Learn guitar in a small group setting
This is a 6 week course for adults who have never played the guitar before, taught by our guitar teacher Derrick Campbell, who taught group guitar classes at the BCAE for 10 years.
In this class, you’ll learn how to play chords like G, D, and A, and how to use them in songs by bands like Creedence Clearwater Revival, Bob Dylan, and the Rolling Stones. You’ll learn how to read guitar tabs so you can go online and teach yourself how to play other songs, and you’ll also learn how to read chord diagrams. The class curriculum also includes scales and other exercises to develop the dexterity in your fingers to make it easier to play more advanced songs.
Group guitar classes are a great way for beginning guitar players to get introduced to learning how to play the guitar, as they are less expensive than private lessons. While they lack the individualized attention that students get in private lessons, the fact that you will be playing in front of other students in the class can be a motivating factor practice consistently between classes, which is very important in the beginning.
This class will be offered on Thursday nights at 6pm and runs for one hour, starting September 14. There will be six classes, so the dates for the classes are September 14, 21, 28, and October 5, 12, 19. Cost for the class is $150 per person.
